Getting to St.Columba's

We will be celebrating our marriage ceremony at 12.30pm in St. Columba's Church, Parish of Iskaheen, Diocese of Derry.

St. Columba's church is a 20 minute drive outside of Derry.

To reach the church follow the Culmore Road out of Derry. Take the second exit at  the Culmore Road / Madams Bank Road roundabout and drive along the coast through Muff village as if headed for Moville. The church is situated on a small hill to the left.  You will see the parish house, which is painted blue, just before the church.  The turn off for the parish house is the one you want to take.  The church is up the hill to the right.

St. Columba's is just before a Maxol garage. If you are at the junction at the Maxol garage you have gone too far.  It is the junction before it.

We will have a sign post up on the day to direct wedding guests to the church.  It might also be useful to use the google maps link on the home page and posted below.

Getting to Harvey's Point

The wedding reception will be at Harveys Point in the Garden suite from 3pm.

Harvey's Point is situated on the shores of Lough Eske about 88km from St.Columba's church. Take a right when exiting onto the main road from St. Columbas. Continue until you reach Muff village at which point take a right for Bridge End follow the road to Burt onto Newtown Cunningham and through Manorcunningham.  Head for Stranorlar and continue along the N13 and N15. Harveys point is 6 km from Donegal town.

Please refresh after the scenic journey with some champage and hot canapes or a tea and sandwich.  We hope you get a chance to enjoy some light music and chat before the wedding meal.

Things To Do

Donegal
North west Ireland boasts ancient fortresses, rich Irish culture and spectacular coastal views.  Top attractions include Donegal castle (situated in the centre of Donegal town), Fintragh beach (30k west of Donegal town through Killybegs), Killybegs Harbour and Sliabh Liag.  Sliabh Liag  or Slive League is a 50k drive from Donegal town and comprises the highest sea cliffs in Europe, a road trip up will reward you with breathtaking views.

And then of course there is the uninterrupted views across the beautiful Lough Eske shoreline which you can soak up in and around Harveys Point.  A day or two ambling around pretty Donegal town and its attractions is a must for keen daytrippers.

Derry
If you have a few extra days to spare we'd recommend a quick drive North again to visit Derry.  Derry is easily navigable and boasts historic 17th century city walls with tours running daily reciting Derry's rich and complicated past with wide views over the historic streets and Donegal hills beyond.  It has a rich night life and a cafe culture.  People dont call it LegenDerry for nothing!

Giants Causeway
From there  continue further along the North coast and do a tour to the Giant's Causeway and associated sites such as Bushmills distillery. The route is well maintained and easy to follow and offers beautiful views of the water and local scenery.  Game of Thrones tours are an option for any fans of the show!

FAQs

  • Is there parking at Church and venue?

There is parking available at Drung church and lots of parking available at Harvey's Point. Cars can be left overnight at Harveys Point (if opting for a taxi back to accomodation nearby).

The wedding mass will be conclude at approximately 1.30pm. The journey from the church to Harvey's Point is approximately 1h10 minutes.  There will be hot canapes, sandwiches and prosecco at the reception from 3pm onwards.  We hope you can enjoy some chat and relax in the surroundings!

  • Where could I stay the night before if travelling from outside the area?

It would be feasible to stay in Donegal town (where Harvey's Point is located) the night before the wedding and travel up to the church and back down again for the reception.

Another idea might be to stay in Derry City which is closer to the church and stay in Harveys Point or another venue in Donegal town on the night of the wedding.  If you want to speak to me or Niall on what the best option for you is please contact us and we will be happy to help.
